plastik people call on west country deep house veteran andy compton, who took a leaf through his box of dats to dig out some previously unreleased jams from the vaults that should get all lovers of classic feel good jams popping with glee. sawfunk is an infectious uptempo jam with a funky edge in the cheeky bassline coursing throughout. dark disc has a moodier flavour to it, with a bit of that us soul heat rubbed into its loins. will you wait for me gets into a twitchy garage swing and holds it down for the duration, organ stabs, dx7 bass and all.

francis harris is a founding member of the scissor & thread label a brooklyn-based imprint established 2011 as an outlet for deeper, more personal sounds, as well as music from a range of associated artists including black light smoke, bob moses, frank & tony, dj aakmael, desert sound colony and aris kindt, to name a few. harris own output has gone from tightly wound tech house cuts as adultnapper in the early days, sublime deep house as frank & tony, intricate and expressive musical journeys as evident in his two solo-albums �leland and �minutes of sleep, and ambient shoegaze with two aris kindt albums, co-produced with gabe hedrick. most recently harris branched out with a new label kingdoms a home for his love of a more adventurous sound. now we are proud to present his new solo single, the first since the release of �minutes of sleep, �minor formswhich includes two remarkable remixes by valentino mora. more we cannot do is a perfect example of harris feel for depth and dynamics a track that feels submerged in a warm amniotic fluid cocooning the listener in a thick subby bassline, providing much of the groove, with skittering percussion on top and intricate fragments of melody throughout leading to a wonderful moment with live vibraphone provided by new york player will shore. minor forms, the eps title track is cut from similar cloth emerging from a subtly distant place to inhabit a melancholic, beautifully evocative space somewhere between ambient, jazz and the dancefloor. joining harris is greg paulus on trumpet, a long time friend and collaborator adding his signature touch to an already moving piece.

new york�s p.leone debuts on rekids special projects with four vinyl-only techno cuts this february. debuting on spencer parker�s work them records in 2016, p.leone has since launched his own imprint entitled e-missions alongside label partner caiazzo. moving to berlin last year, the american producer has quickly earned himself a name within the german capital, making regular appearances at the likes of tresor and ://about blank, and now joining respected berlin-based label rekids as part of their vinyl-only series. metallic echoes, robust kicks and breakbeat percussion lay the foundation for �rose petal breaks�, before �noon service� demonstrates crystalline synths and futuristic effects. on the flip, thudding drums and energetic claps form �hold me down� until the ominous �sometimes i feel strong� concludes the package with rattling components and a cacophony of intricacies.

every tune of the 12- is deeply inspired by the origins of the mid 90s melodic jungle & d n b movement, namely by the greats of that era: peshay, source direct, ltj bukem and photek. ray & karl have worked together on a number of projects over the last year, the most recent one being a split 12- on the other planet of lyon. while ray has been connected to the lo-fi house scene and acts like baltra, dj boring and dj seinfeld, karl has been more low-key, producing music that s relaxed and organic, mainly inspired by naature and the musical movement around frits wentink and max graef. for this release they worked closely together, decided to stray off their usual paths and combined their different styles to form a well-rounded record.

for the first release of 2018 we welcome harry wolfman to the outplay family! having followed his work for the last couple of years we re very happy to have him deliver this varied 4-tracker, which very well might be some of his best work to date. the a side starts off with hitch . a warm and dusty groover driven by rhodes, a rubbery bassline and a thudding kick. a lovely string piece in the middle of the track slowly builds up to the break for it to return to the head nodding groove soon after. the added percussion gives it a nice lively feel as well. pigs in blankets sets the pace a little slower, but the funk goes on. the track incorporates 80s style samples with some excellent synth and chord work. perfect for a warm up session. starting on the b side harry takes it up a notch with nemoto , which will be a definite stomper for the dance floor. it takes you on a 9 minute journey of rolling bumpy basslines, screaming distortion leads and hypnotising synth work. finally, to ease things off, sts-136 (final call) comes in at a slow 88 bpm pace as a perfect closure to the ep. dreamy pads, piano licks and a calming marimba melody combined with a beat which feels like a warm blanket will make you wander off for a moment

tardis records are delighted to welcome uk tech-house hero flow to the tardis records stable for their eighth release. the three tracks making up the trine ep were recorded together with simon moorecroft (a.k.a. simon vinyl junkie) around the time of his first vinyl releases back in 1996-1997. all three tracks sound completely contemporary whilst having more than enough old school flavour to give flashbacks to any 90s ravers. lead track boy girl action has skipping, garage-influenced beats with rolling bass and swirling atmospherics, whilst a breakbeat, vocals and a stabby intro give trine on the flip a more ravey feel. closing out the ep, i see you is the dubbiest cut here, with another heavy bassline, cut-up vocals,and subtly swung percussion. eli and oscar have loved testing these tracks out on the road and can vouch for their impact on a peak-time dancefloor!

4 years can feel like a really long time � -long time no see- was achim maerz frst wake up! ep back in 2013, -it s been a while- is his frst track on metal and machines and it s good to see that some things don t change. it s a true achim maerz track � focused on longing melodies, warmly distorted harmonies based on deep house foundations. -listening to machines- features a kickdrum like a steam hammer in factory hall. for the right mind, even a factory can be an inspiring place. benjamin brunn s -iron copper gold- follows his manner of creating timeless and eternal soundscapes. it is less playful and takes the tension to higher grounds. just like metal, it s cold being touched and it doesn t take long until it reaches body temperature. the fourth track express mode- was released on benjamin brunns drop lp in 2015. achim maerz remix sounds like a screwed-down uptempo house track � slow and heavy, but benjamin brunn s quirkiness is undeniably there.

the olympos series continues its exploration of godly themes and adventurous techno with a third instalment, this time calling on demetra, the goddess of the harvest and agriculture. there s a consistently deep tone to all four of the tracks on offer here, employing swooping pads and undulating bleep lines to conjure up a warm, early 90s feel that would sound right at home on an early b12 single. -pump it- is especially deep, using the barest of ingredients to take you on a dreamy, machine-powered trip.

man power his raw electronic sound, organic flourishes and diverse selection make him a perfect match for dgtl, both on stage as well as on the imprint. next to releasing a steady flow of records on established labels like esp institute, optimo trax, correspondant and hivern discs, man power is running his own shop as well: me me me. this gives him an outlet to release music by both friends and himself. for his release on dgtl records he created a three-track ep called apologue ep, that showcases just two of different sides of his multi-faceted musical scope. the a-side features two firm, acid influenced tracks. the first of these two, the duelist, is an emotive house record, with a soundscape of piano melodies, synths and syncopated percussion laid on top of an acid bassline. el mago del tiempo features heavy hitting kicks combined with a sharp synth pattern. it has a long build up that keeps evolving throughout the entire composition. halfway through, the track breaks in to a raw and fierce rhythm accompanied by yearning, drawn-out synth pads. on the flipside, put your hands on the car (and get ready to die) brings back memories of a long gone past with nods to balearic pop, ebm, and the soundtrack work of stewart copeland, james horner, and jan hammer. this multi layered production has a warm and analogue sounding feel to it that rounds off a 3 dimensional release.

for this release metrist delves into a set of carefully constructed and deeply rhythmic but ear-grabbingly idiosyncratic, mixed fidelity dancefloor-geared oddities. the first three tracks are united, in a fashion, by the artist�s skill at programming a series of drum tracks that set a definite tone for the productions. within a quite partisan field of often microscopic generic variety, largely pinned down to the tempo and timbre of electronic drums, here metrist has pursued a tricky-to-define path. the bounce of new jack swing is twisted amongst stripped back polyrhythms, equal parts groove and glitch seasoned by some futuristic acid filters that create a constantly shifting aura of space and textural nuance around the individual drum hits. quite often arrhythmic interjections punctuate these �grooves�, be it the sawing bursts of noise and snarled, incoherent vocals on �an soaep�, the non-language and playful, bubbling bass surrounding the half time feel of �on golden seize� that builds to something approximating an industrial take on uk funky or the brash sub-wobbles that intrude �pantomimer tongue�s juddering knife-scraping-on-a-balloon stutters. �caaacel the horze� closes the record in a less weighty style, with crunchy arpeggios running on a synth that sounds like it�s picking up interference from a radio channel, as snatches of moaned vocals allude to a deeply ambiguous yet chilling narrative behind the music. thudding kicks intrude on the skittish melody but in a non-rhythmic way reminiscent of someone trying desperately to snatch your attention by banging on the adjacent wall. gauzy melodic textures in the background provide a calming counterpoint to the uneasy qualities of the composition
